WE DISCOVER THAT PROCESS IS SEPARATE FROM OUTCOME AND SYSTEMS ROCK

100 WEEK PROJECT

Before We Start

Welcome to our 100 DAY Project Course.

Before we start, here are some key things to think about and keep in mind.

What is the 100 DAY Project?

As its name suggests, the 8-WEEK project is your own mini-quest in which you do a creative (or other) activity of your choice every day for eight weeks. Deep dive time… with a measurable ending and accountability toward getting it done.

Your project can be as small or as grandiose you like.

Why do the 100 DAY Project?

  • Have fun!
  • Boost your creativity.
  • Visible  progress  = Momentum  = Motivation  = Confidence  = Joy = Meaning.
  • Accountability. It’s easier in a group of amazing creatives who all do their own projects at the same time.
  • Build life-long skills. We’ll have short weekly lessons about key skills for sustained creative practice: habits, systems, consistency, attention management- all relevant transferable skills that will serve you long after you finish the course.
  • Boost in your creative portfolio. Try something new or boost the skill you neglected. Move the needle forward on a big project. Either way, you’ll have something great to show in your portfolio once you are done.
  • Goals we have control over make us feel.

How to choose the right project?

A few questions to consider:

  • What do you really (really) feel like doing?
  • What would you do if you did not give a crap about the outcome?
  • What makes you excited and lit up?
  • Where are you in your creative practice right now?
  • What are your life circumstances right now?
  • How much free time do you have?

Ideally, your project should be something that you love, that lightens you up, that you would love to explore.

Your daily actions should be something small, feasible, and doable without much friction. Choose something that is:

  • Sustainable
  • Repeatable
  • Controllable

Good examples

  • Write 2 pages (or 500 words) every day about a photography project.
  • Make two related images each day.
  • Learn SEO by watching and implementing something for 15 minutes per day
  • Work on your website for 15 minutes every day.
  • Explore Photoshop and find new ways of post-processing older images – then post-process one image per day with your new technique.
  • Shoot one food shot per day.
  • Make a portrait every day (option would include a small interview).
  • Research three new clients every morning.
  • Create a mini-course you can sell on UDEMY (or similar).

Bad examples

  • Shoot every day to get a “new portfolio”. (outcome-oriented)
  • Start a YouTube Channel (a lot of time- unsustainable (unless you are a pro painter))
  • Record the music album in 100 days (also outcome-oriented)
  • Publish a best-seller after 100 days (also outcome-oriented and not in your control)
  • Start a profitable business after 100 days (the same story)

What success looks like?

It’s simple:

Do your actions of choice every day for 100 Days in a row.
Do the work you have chosen to do for 100 Days in a row.
That’s 14 weeks.

That’s your only outcome.

It doesn’t matter what will be the further destiny of your creations, whether they will turn into a book, new portfolio, art exhibition, or whatever. That is none of your business. It is out of your control and it makes no difference to the project.

In this project, you are aiming for consistency, not an ‘accomplishment’.

Consistent effort, consistent creativity, a sense of purpose, and a solid work ethic are what we are working toward. This is PROCESS over PRODUCT, effort over results, and by simply focusing on the work and not the outcome we remove so much unimportant pressure.

How to interact with the group?

Check-in every week and do one or more things that are relevant for your project:

  • Share your creations daily (if possible) in the Activity Feed
  • Share your thoughts about how the process is going
  • Share a selfie of you creating
  • Cheer others
  • Provide feedback, kind words, encouragement

How to find weekly lessons?

They will be on the Table Of Contents located on the right side of this page.

What if you miss a day?

If you miss a day, you miss a day. Get back to it as soon as you can and just keep powering through. Missing a day is not a reason to quit, or become frustrated. That is just resistance shouting in your ears.

A few ideas to prevent this from happening:

  • Choose the small, tiny action in the first place
  • Reduce the scope but stick to a schedule.
  • Create a low-bound for your output (e.g. your output is 3 pages a day and low-bound is 1 page)

What do you do afterward?

Whatever you like! You will boost your creativity for sure and this project will show you what’s possible. We can share the final projects with a virtual party, a link to the project or a place to download it or simply to view it as a group.

Accountability Partners

If you think about we are all each other’s accountability partners. We need to encourage, cajole, help, and lead each other through the process. And that is all this is about… the PROCESS.

What to do next…

Begin planning your project. We will look at how that choice is coming along as we get closer to September. I will let you know when we are ready with the Mighty Networks Community page. We can then move all further discussions there.

I am so excited about this project. I hope you are as well.
