WELL, IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR
Every year since I got the motorcycle I have taken a long(ish) trip through the mountains and deserts of the west. I plan on doing that again. And I hope for a long couple of years hence.
This year I plan on making my way back to Beartooth, but also riding the road from westfrom Grangeville into Lolo, Montana. Then I will take 93 south to Salmon, Idaho and across the valley to the west entrance of Yellowstone. I figure the heat around Idaho Falls will be something I am used to being from Phoenix.
Somewhere along there I will spend some time in Cody, Wyoming and Red Lodge Montana… and that should get me to my birthday on top of Beartooth Pass – again – since I may never know when I can get there again. It is far too stunning for an only once in a lifetime.
As I did last year, I am letting you know that you may buy me a tank of gas or lunch if you wish. In return, I will send you a limited edition set of 5 postcards that will be for those of you who contribute only. If 15 people contribute, I will print the images at a run of 16 (one set for the artist) and number them according to the number of participants.
All of the images will be shot specifically for this gift, and will be shot on this motorcycle adventure.
You will have a limited edition image with a very small number of people having a similar image.
The images will be printed by me on Red River 5×7 matte paper for a luxurious feel.
You get: 5 – 5×7 images in a protective, sealed envelope.
A notecard of authenticity with the place, date, and time the image was made.
All images are signed and numbered on the back for authenticity.
THE 5X7 PACKAGE IS $35.00
Lunch or Gas…
NAVIGATION FOR THE 2021 MOTORCYCLE TRIP IN THE WEST
I will be keeping you posted on where and what I am up to on this year’s ride right here. I hope to post once per day and have it be a round up of the day’s ride.
I have made some changes this year and will be explaining how I prepared, how I packed, and how I negotiate the wild, wild areas of the western US.
If you would like to buy me a lunch or a tank of gas (gas is so expensive for this beast) you can go here. I have a special gift for all who contribute.
Tacos or Gas…You Execute on What You Believe – And That May Be Problematic
(Look at that tree clinging to a tiny piece of dirt in the middle of a rock wall. It isn't supposed to be able to do that. There is barely enough sunlight in that narrow ravine, nor is there sufficient water on the side of a cliff. Good thing the tree...
Why Weekly Assignments Work (and why I love Unsplash)
When I started Project 52 Pros back about 7 years ago, I knew I wanted it to introduce a wide variety of commercial photography to photographers who were not steeped in that tradition. It is difficult to find assistant gigs, and even harder to find them when you are...
Article for Petapixel: Pricing Work by Understanding Value
"The fact that you own a lot of gear that cost a lot of money, have purchased a vehicle to transport that gear, and spent long hours mastering its use is a given. Of course you have. Otherwise you would not be a professional photographer. Period. I do not care how...

We made a few simple tweaks to J Morgan Images, a consumer photography website by photographer Jessica Edler. You can see what we did and keep these few ideas in mind. Get your clients and visitors STRAIGHT to the imagery. Do not use 'cover pages' or 'entry pages' as...
A very powerful EMail Campaign by Photographer John McAllister
John McAllister is a photographer in High Wycombe, UK. I worked with him on this email campaign for restaurants. John designed it himself and I collaborated on the copy. In this campaign we focus on the benefits to the customer, not the assets of the photographer. It...
