What Scott Rogers had to say:

"Be prepared to learn the flow of light... what the camera is seeing... and how to work the elements for the best image possible.  I came to the workshop with a bundle of knowledge, and Don applied it to various situations effortlessly; he turned my head knowledge into heart knowledge.  His passion for creativity just overflowed.  His refreshing encouragement to use what you have, rather than you need to buy this is something I really appreciated. He gladly shares his professional experience and situations that makes learning fun.  No question went unanswered, and the structure of instruction really was customized for the needs of our group. It just flowed well. I came home with some remarkable images, and a new desire to modify and control the light in all of my projects."

Scott Condray said:

"If you want to understand light, and how to control it, take Don’s workshop. He’s a great photographer and an even better teacher."

Steve Burger adds:

"Don's workshop's are great. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to see how great fashion images are created from start to finish. Don's work is on a level of it's own. Now with his workshops, he's passing on his favorite techniques. If you want to learn to work with light, this workshop is a must."

If you are a model and would
like to be one of our work-
shop models, here is what to
expect and what is expected.

Lighting Essentials: learn to lightFirst of all, thank you for doing what you do. I can't believe how hard it is to be a good model. Personally I hate having my picture taken, so I am very happy that some of you actually enjoy it.

We do not pay the models usually, as it is a TFP opportunity without compare. You will end up with dozens of images to add to your portfolio. This is a great chance for a beginning model to get a lot of images and some great instruction on working with photographers. As well, you will meet 10 of the most interested shooters in your area... and tha kind of networking works for everyone.

What you can expect from us:

  • Professionalism. We are professional in our work and our demeanor.
  • We will work with you to create the best images possible
  • We will treat you with respect
  • The photographers will pledge to send you images for your portfolios
  • The photographers will not sell your images to any third party licensees (stock) nore will your images appear in any third party advertisements unless the photographer and you have worked out a mutually agreeable arrangement.
  • The workshop is not involved in any transactions you make with the photographers.

What we expect from you:

  • Enthusiasm and patience. This is a workshop so there are times when we will be working with you to do the same thing a few times over.
  • Respect and professionalism.
  • Please, please, please be on time. No... be early.
  • The photographs the photographers send you are totally useable for self promotion and portfolio use. No third party sales can happen without a mutually agreed upon relationship with the photographer.

This is a G-Rated workshop so we will not be expecting nudity, implied nudity or any images that would be deemed inappropriate for a general audience. Cute and sexy is great, but sleazy is not going to be something we ask. This is a workshop that a 16 year old model can attend. In fact, my 16 year old daugher occasionally models for us.

So if you would like to be a model at any of our workshops, simply hit the contact page and send me your portfolio link (Model Mayhem, OMP or whatever online model source you use). If you do not have pictures, this is a heck of a great way to get a porftolio for no cost.
